Wire types – what does tensile mean?
Fence wires are often referred to by their tensile strength ....what is best for you?
Choosing a smooth or barbed wire to put on your fence can often be confusing….Soft Tensile, Medium Tensile, and High Tensile.
These wires have different chemical compositions that allow the wire to perform in different ways.
Tensile Strength refers to the maximum load that the wire can support, without breaking when being stretched.
The higher the Tensile the higher the load that it can withstand
Soft Tensile Wires are the easiest to twist and tie, and are more popular in Northern States of Australia.
Medium and High Tensile wires, being a thinner diameter are more an economical option and can withstand a higher breaking force.
