Which Fence – Conventional or Electric?

Both conventional and electric fences have a role to play in any fence design.

Conventional fences provide a physical barrier between an animal and where they may wonder to, whereas Electric fences use mental barriers to restrain your animals.
When your electric fence is performing the way it was designed to, and your animals are trained by the fence, they will touch the fence once and then leave it alone.

Many people will use electric fences for temporary strip grazing, or in combination with a conventional mesh fence – having a “hot” electric wire set off from the mesh fence.

A conventional fence uses more wire, so the initial outlay is greater, however, maintaining and monitoring an electric fence over its life, can be a burden for some.
