Understanding Stay Assemblies
Stay or End Assemblies, do the heavy lifting of any fence. If an animal impacts the fence, the Stay Assembly is designed to stay anchored in the ground, allowing for the fence to stretch and absorb the impact without breaking.
Stay Assemblies are needed at every fence “end”
- Corners
- Either side of Gates
- Fence change in direction
- In-Line for longer fence runs
- Bottom of gullies and crests of hills.
The Hello Fencing Stay assemblies are sold as 2 parts:
- A Stay Assembly Kit
The Kit is sold as a pack of 5, that is used in conjunction with the Stay Assembly Post, or can be used a Stay for a Timber Post.
The kit includes a 3m brace pipe with specially designed brace cap for ease of installation; a heavy duty fire-proof base plate; and a notched threaded rod for easy tensioning. - A Strainer Post
Also sold as pack of 5, the post is 2.1m in length made from 80NB x 4 wall pipe. It is designed to be inserted horizontally into the ground for at approx 0.9m
Being an all steel construction, they are suitable in high fire risk areas.
The StockPost Stay Assembly kits can be installed as
- One Stay – end (a traditional Stay installed at the end of the fence – pointing down the fence),
- Two Stays – in line (installed in the middle of a fence run – Two Stays are placed opposite each other)
- Two Stays – Corner (installed at a corner – each stay points down the line of the fence)
- Three Stays – Corner (installed at a corner – each stay points down the line of the fence, with third stay added for extra strength in the middle).
Planning where your stays are positioned is very important – ideally they should be on the side of the fence where animals are excluded. This prevents animals from climbing or damaging the Stay.
