The basic principles to follow when fencing are
- Install your Stay Assemblies (End Posts)
- Clean up your fence line – cut long grass and remove any old fences or farm equipment
- Work out which side of the Stay Assemblies you want your fence wire to be – animal pressure should be on the wire side, so that the wire is pushing against the posts.
- Install a sight/guide wire between the Stay Assemblies, so that your know that your fence is straight…..this may become your top wire.
- Install your Steel Stockposts and XL Stockposts along the guide wire – make sure that the holes all face the same way.
The StockPost flange with holes in it should be pointing towards the wire side of the fence, so that you can clip the fence wire to the posts.
Drive the StockPosts to a the line mark on the post. - Put your mesh on the ground about 50cm before the End Post, to give you wire to tie to the End Post.
Ensure that the roll is the right way around – the small holes should be at the bottom of the mesh. - Strip off the first few vertical wires, so that the horizontal wires can be tied to the End Post, using an End Knot.
- Attach a Mesh Strainer Clamp to the other end of the mesh, and with 2 Chain Strainers, strain up the mesh.
Walk along the fence, and jiggle the mesh – ensuring that the mesh is not caught on any posts or other obstructions
The strain should be enough to pull out 1/2 to 3/4 of the crimp in the mesh horizontal wires….do not pull this crimp all the way out. - Tie off the strained end of the mesh to the other End Post, and release chain strainers and clamp from the mesh.
- Using Fence Post Clips, clip the mesh to each fence post – don’t forget to clip the bottom.
- If desired, install a Top Fence Wire or Barbed wire.
